’r/PetTheDamnDog Also though it can encourage freakouts and separation anxiety if you immediately shower them in affection once you get home and they are still prancing around. They may be waiting until the pupper calms down before rewarding them. Though I agree it should have been in the video for the satisfying finale haha! We have a German Shepherd puppy who used to nearly pee all over the floor the minute we got home because she was SO EXCITED. My husband kept getting her riled up by petting her and cooing but part of her training is that she has to sit before she is allowed attention so she doesn't accidentally hurt our door, a visitor, our kid, or one of us if we aren't prepared for the onslaught of jumping and dancing and weaving between legs. It is so hard though lol.’

’I post Daisy and my other fosters on my insta @chupieandfriends if you want to see more Daisy related content! This is Daisy! She has valley fever, a completely treatable fungal infection. VF causes lesions throughout the body, generally on bones but it can impact organs as well. It's very common in the Sonoran desert, where I live. In her case it is very severe. When she came to the shelter where I work she couldn't move any of her legs, was extremely emaciated, and her valley fever lesions where the worst I've ever seen. Since then she's gained 4 lbs and has started kicking her feet! She also started wagging her tail a few weeks ago and haven't stopped since. Her lesions are melting away and her blood work is getting better every checkup. She's a sweet girl who loves everyone she meets, be it person or animal. This wheelchair was fundraised for me by a bunch of volunteers and coworkers from my animal shelter. It means that she can sit up like a normal dog, eat food while sternal, and interact with me and my other foster pups! In short, it's life-changing for her! She can't move around on her own yet but she is getting stronger every day ❤️ It's crazy to me that a municipal animal shelter would do this much for a pup! 6 years ago we were euthinizing pitbulls because they're "aggressive". Today they helped this little pitty mix live out the best life they she possible could.’

’As requested in another post, here is my good buddy. He spent his whole life chained up outside, untill we rescued him from the local shelter. He was very timid and unsure of himself but he came around very quickly. He is now one of the happiest dogs I've ever met and is incredibly gentle and never jumps up on anybody.’

’Dads don't say that because they don't love to have a dog. They say that because they are aware that there is big possibility that their kids asking for the dog won't take care of the dogs like it's necessary. Take em for a walk in the morning, noon and evening, feeding them, play with em, care about them, teach em and protect them... Also they cost a lot of money. Food, toys, vets, utilities. Dads gone through that with their kids before, who are then asking for a pet. And often Dads are afraid that they end up building a bond with the pet while a kids interest can shift very fast. Then nobody takes care about the dog in the family anymore and the dad can't do it on his own on top of the stuff he already has to do... So when you see a Dad say no, not everytime it's because the Dad doesn't want a Dog. En contrary.’
